Understanding Ozone Therapy
Harnessing Oxygen to Fuel Healing
Ozone (O₃) is a naturally occurring molecule composed of three oxygen atoms. Though most recognized for its role in the Earth’s atmosphere, ozone gas has been used in medical practice for over 100 years.
At OmniStem, our ozone therapy treatment uses medical-grade ozone (O₂-O₃) in controlled therapeutic doses. It’s designed to stimulate healing, improve oxygen delivery, and support whole-body detoxification. This form of oxygen ozone therapy is physician-supervised and fits into a broader plan to support your overall health.

WHAT CAN OZONE THERAPY DO FOR YOU?
How Ozone Therapy Works
Restoring balance through oxygen-based healing with a simple, safe, and effective process.
Blood Collection
A small amount of blood is drawn into a sterile, closed system
Ozonation
The blood is gently enriched with medical-grade ozone (O₂–O₃)
Reinfusion
The ozonated blood is returned intravenously, delivering benefits throughout your body.

Ozone in Medicine. The Low-Dose Ozone Concept and Its Basic Biochemical Mechanisms of Action
Low-dose ozone is presented as a bioregulator for chronic inflammatory diseases by helping restart redox (oxidant–antioxidant) signaling when oxidative stress is high and regulation is “stuck.” In systemic use, ozone-derived peroxidesact like a regulatory signal (similar to H₂O₂), are buffered by the glutathione system (GSH/GSSG), and trigger nuclear pathways that increase antioxidant defenses and reduce inflammatory cytokines. In rheumatoid arthritis studies, markers like SOD, catalase, and GSH rise, oxidative-stress markers fall, cytokines decrease, and clinical symptoms improve, supporting ozone as a potential complement worth testing in clinical trials.

Medical Ozone as a Therapeutic Option in Musculoskeletal Pain Control
Medical ozone is reviewed as a promising option for musculoskeletal pain because common drug treatments (like corticosteroids and opioids) can cause significant side effects. In a review of the literature, researchers screened 249 records and included 27 clinical studies, assessing study quality, possible bias, and factors like practitioner training and device safety. Overall, ozone therapy appeared safe and effective for pain control, but many studies didn’t report key device details, and there’s still no clear “best” treatment protocol—so more rigorous, longer-term trials are needed.

The Role of Ozone Treatment as Integrative Medicine. An Evidence and Gap Map
Ozone “evidence gap map” studies suggest ozone therapy may help with pain control, infections, inflammation, wound healing, and quality of life, and it’s aimed at clinicians and researchers working in ozone care. Across the mapped evidence, no serious adverse effects were reported, supporting it as a low-cost, potentially effective integrative option. The authors highlight that future research should add economic impact analyses and evaluate how ozone treatment can be organized within health services.

Efficacy of Ozone Therapy for Oral Mucosa Wound Healing: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis
A systematic review and meta-analysis of 12 human clinical studies found that ozone therapy can accelerate healing and reduce pain in traumatic and autoimmune oral ulcers compared with placebo, while providing similar pain reliefto topical corticosteroids and laser photobiomodulation; however, despite these promising results and formal bias assessments (ROBINS-I/RoB2), the authors note that the overall quality of evidence is limited, so more rigorous trials are needed.

Mitochondrial Dysfunction, Its Oxidative Stress and Bioregulation Through Low-Dose Medical Ozone
Low-dose ozone is described as a redox “bioregulator”: it gently shifts the body back toward a healthy oxidant–antioxidant balance. Across preclinical/clinical work (including conditions like arthritis, aging, and type 2 diabetes), it’s linked to higher antioxidant repair markers (especially glutathione) and lower oxidative-stress markers (especially malondialdehyde). Overall, “repair” activity increased ~21% to 140% vs. non-ozone groups while stress markers dropped, suggesting the redox system rebalances.

Low-Dose Ozone as a Eustress Inducer: Experimental Evidence of the Molecular Mechanisms
Low-dose ozone (O₃) therapy uses small, controlled oxidative stress to “train” cells to boost their own defenses without damage. It mainly works by activating Nrf2 (antioxidant response), lowering inflammatory signals/cytokines, and this can support pain reduction and tissue repair (including fibroblast activation). The paper also notes a possible anticancer effect linked to these oxidative/anti-inflammatory mechanisms.
